AGV Cattle is not limited to cattle alone and includes sheep, goats, and swine.
Robert (Rob) Phillips, C.E.O., is responsible for the legal, financial, strategic vision, and overall integrity and corporate governance of AGV. Rob is a talented and highly productive entrepreneurial executive with international and multicultural experience. With a focus in finance, operations, and emerging market development. Rob has held a variety of senior level positions throughout his career. His greatest value may be the ability to bring structure and discipline in a seemingly chaotic environment. Originally from Hallock, MN, with his early years being on a small grain farm that also ran cattle and sheep, he has a foundation built on the agricultural and livestock industries. As an army veteran, having been the recipient of various awards, culminating with the Meritorious Service Medal, he attained an A.A.S. degree, and B.A degree while transitioning to the world of business. During his pursuit of an MBA and being employed by the Millipore Corporation, he began expanding and honing his experience on the international stage regarding finance, contract compliance, and corporate governance. With direct experience with entities in Tanzania, Botswana, and S. Africa, and a desire to leverage available opportunities, He is well suited to lead AGV Cattle Co.
Silas Pillar, Director of AGV is responsible for the day-to-day operations in Botswana, to include the entire buy - transport - sell cycle. With an extensive history of, and direct in, cattle ranching, trading, transporting, both live animals and carcasses, Silas is the right man to hold this position. Originally from Francistown, Botswana. Completing high school, with honors, in 1981, he attended Cambridge, and then on to Mechanical Engineering courtesy of the De Beers Mining Corporation. Silas continued employment with De Beers until 1988 at which time he joined Caterpillar Corporation, S. Africa division. Two years later, when his father passed away, he resigned his position to assist his family, working in the meat wholesaling and retailing sectors.
At that time, recognizing his passion for cattle, ranching, and business, he purchased a small ranch and managed up to 250 cattle in a given period of time. Working with the S. African company, Marel, (Marel | Food processing solutions) Silas became the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and obtained certifications and licenses required for the purchase, transport and sale of beef cattle. It is through this company, AGV has the potential to grow laterally into the meat processing sector by building its own facility in Botswana. With ministerial approval in hand, AGV also has the ability to export product to Europe and expand the product portfolio beyond beef.
